Plaintext files served as cool and fresh as a morgue slab. Take whatever you like and hand them out as you see fit. More pages will join in when they're sufficiently chilled. I was inspired by websites such as textfiles.com and various usenet archives.

Why plaintext?

They're easier to maintain, preserve and disseminate this way. Plaintext as a format has existed since the very start of computing and as it stands, will continue to exist unbothered. Many archives, besides the more famous web-archives of the Wayback Machine, list plaintext files. Most Archive.org texts will have a text file version alongside its PDFs and EPubs, as with sites like Project Gutenberg. Speaking of web archives, while they are of vast cultural importance, are notoriously brittle. Javascript comes to mind, as I discovered the hard way with a webcomic engine named Rarebit. It, much to my disappointment, does not like doing its thing on an Archive.org snapshot. Tools like Wget offer far more stable means of archival, but the plaintext remains ever portable. A webpage also requires skill in various means of code, whereas Usenet archives, game walkthroughs and other simple documents do not. The website is a wonderful means of culture, and I adore it, however I must be a critic and say that the website should not overshadow other means of communication. This is why I host plaintext.
