Bier-bliography
Bier (plural biers): a table or platform on which a coffin or dead body is placed at a funeral.
- Encyclopædia Britannica
This is my personal bibliography for vampire affairs. It contains dictionaries, histories and all kind of literary analysis, preferring folklore over pop culture. So if you’re frustrated by the shallow, surface-level critique so bloating the internet, come sink your teeth into these instead. Then when you’re done, check out their bibliographies as well.
This bibliography uses the obscure TavernDweller style, which itself is loosely based off the 7th edition of the MLA Handbook. Taverndweller's sheer passion radiates off the screen, whether it's for biblographies or his pet author, James Joyce. What's better for an underground site like this one than to use an appropriately niche method?
I cannot promise you that these books are paragons of factual accuracy, nor can I promise that they’ll be free of bias. This is especially true with the oldest texts, and the incessant “Dracula = Vlad Tepes” trope so pervasive in their time. So like with any resource, it is important to consult these with a critical eye. Books may reference real-life crime and brutality, but purely true crime works are excluded. The same applies to books solely focused on historical figures such as Elizabeth Bathory or Vlad Tepes. To go even further, I am excluding books on Vampire Lifestyle, Vampire: The Masquerade and anything without folkloric roots. If you're curious as to why, please make your way to the Archives and consult the FAQ page.
